A God of The Trenches
“He will redeem my soul in peace from the battle which is against me...”
What a gracious Father we have ruling over our life. He is personal, real and near in each and every situation. When we face life’s challenges, our daily battles, He is not a God who cheers from afar but rather He is with us in the midst of the struggle. He is a God of the trenches! We are never without His presence or help. He will never leave us and He will never forsake us. Everyday we go out our front door we are never without His presence. With each new day comes new challenges, decisions to be made, people to encounter and situations to face. We cannot escape from these things but we can face them confidently with God. He is our support group, rally coordinator, encourager, counselor, guide, confidant, and trusted friend everyday of our life. And all the while, He is still God of the universe.
How can such a holy God, big, mighty and strong dwell among the lowly such as us? It’s the greatest mystery of all time, isn’t it? Yet God, being God, has chosen to be near us and make His abode within our hearts so He can be with us, not just for us. This is when the realness of God takes place in our everyday situations: when we know that God is not only for us, He is with us! This is a “slap your faith” truth and one worth memorizing. Take this to the very heart of your faith in who God is and then watch your faith soar when you come to challenging places in the road of life as you recall that God is there with you in that moment.
For every battle that rages against us, we have His peace because we have Him. For every fear that overtakes us, we can have courage because we have God. And with every confrontation of our faith, we can rise confident in who God is because He has never left us. It is His abiding presence that makes all things possible and in the day of battle, He will not fail us. His grace will wash over every thought, every doubt, every emotion, until all that is left is the realness of Him. We can trust Him for every need today and with each battle tomorrow.
