Deadly Detours
"But you have departed out of the way; You have caused many to stumble at the law..."
Walk with God long enough and sooner or later your life will converge with another path bringing you face to face with a choice; a decision you must make. Daily we are bombarded with options, directions, advice and opinions that demand a response. The devil will make sure we have plenty of choices before us in order to confuse and distort our judgment. He will never be content to allow our faith and commitment to God to go unchallenged. Satan’s response to our decision to follow God will always be to offer us alternatives. This is what he did in the Garden of Eden with Eve by offering her the choice of another tree. It’s his method of causing a disturbance of the soul by creating distrust and doubt in the decisions we’ve made to live godly.
Unless we have made up our minds ahead of time to stick with God, we won’t make it when another path meets ours. Determination to stay with God must come in advance of the obstacles and choices or we will find ourselves turning in a direction that will lead us away from God. This predetermined stance is not only vital to our faith but to others as well. When we turn away from following God, we also entice others to as well. Our choices affect the faith of others who see us and are involved in our life. One decision to walk an alternate path is an open invitation to everyone we have influence with. It’s the power of presence in God’s world. We’ve all been given it. It’s a gift that comes with great accountability.
If we stumble, many others will fall as well. A Christian life is watched more closely than we could ever imagine. Our reputation is a lifeline or death sentence for others. What will yours be? What choices have you made that were outside of the will and obedience of God? Every choice has influence. How have your choices influenced your generation? Your choices will become the law of another beloved.
Choose wisely today because the tomorrows of others are at stake.
