The Completeness of All Life

Then God said,” let Us make man in Our image…”

Genesis 1:26

God turns to the trinity as a whole and as if making a formal plea states, “Let Us make man in Our image”.  It’s as though God is setting off a siren, signaling the significance of an event about to take place.   He’s about to engrave a truth so prevalent, so undeniably present, that the world and every generation to come upon the face of the earth would see it.  The inscription by the Holy Trinity would forever change the way God would be seen and known. God wants His existence, His Son’s existence, and His Spirit’s existence to be known and proven.

It reminds me of a story I read recently of a little girl who was sitting in the waiting room of her father’s law office.  As she was waiting for him to finish with the last client of the day she noticed that there hanging on the wall was a plaque that read, “God is nowhere”.  You see, this little girls’ father, although a brilliant attorney, was an atheist.  He did not believe in God.  Out of boredom the innocent child began copying the words over and over again on a writing tablet she had.  In her youthfulness she inadvertently copied the phrase with a space in the text.  When her father came out to go home he looked down at her writings and began reading these words over and over again:  God is now here…God is now here…God is now here!

If we could only see as a little child full of eager faith to see God is all around us. His presence was a life necessity marked for us by the layout of God’s universe.  Have you ever wondered why the earth is round?  God could have designed it flat or square and made it work just as perfectly as a round earth.   He wanted to encircle His child with the reality of Himself.  Everywhere, every direction we look we can see Him.  Why?  Because creation shouts the words day in and day out; God is now here!  I believe this is what we see when God created man and woman in His image, in the image of the blessed Holy Trinity; GOD IS NOW HERE!  God had introduced Adam and Eve to their surroundings, and as well to each other, but in this final stamp of His imprint it’s as if God is saying to His world; “Now, let me introduce you to Myself.”

Introduce God to this world.
