Trade Places With God
"Splendor and majesty are before Him, Strength and joy are in His place."
I Chronicles 16:27
Have you ever wanted to trade places with someone else; someone you thought had it better than you? What we usually don’t know is what’s behind the scene of one’s life who seems to have it all together or gives the outward view that their life is perfect. But reality is, that no one’s life is without problems, challenges, regrets, failures and even sadness, no matter how great things appear to be. Our outward appearance is what people see first about us and most never know what’s behind the mask we wear. People will usually disappoint us when and if we come to know the real person. It’s the same with any of us. There are none of us who are without regrets and a list of mistakes. None of us are perfect, not even close. And if we did have the chance to trade places with another, we just might find that we didn’t have it all that bad to begin with.
But there’s One who will never disappoint, never leave us wanting. That person is God. As we approach Him, as we look at His outward appearance, we are awe struck at first and overtaken by the splendor and majesty of His countenance. His is beautiful, spotless and perfect at first glance and so glorious is the sight of Him that we are drawn in full wonder and abandon. It’s easy to get lost in just the approach of our Heavenly Father. But His unfailing and indescribable beauty are only the pathway that leads to Him. As we finally come face to face with Him, our soul has found its home. Leaning into to take a deeper and longer look we find that in His place, His home and dwelling place is what we’ve been in search of; strength and joy. He has surely not disappointed us!
In God’s place is strength and joy. We will never be found wanting and absolutely never be saddened to know the real God! He never disappoints and what we see on the outward beauty is a true reflection of all that He is. God is not hidden from us and only where He is, in His place can we find the strength for today and the joy for all our tomorrows. If we know the source of these things, why would we run anywhere else? God will always have what we need.
