I Am Weak But He Is Strong

”You need not fight in this battle; station yourselves, stand and see the salvation of the LORD on your behalf, O Judah and Jerusalem.   Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out to face them, for the LORD is with you.”

II Chronicles 20:17

How many of us struggle along in life’s situations trying to “handle” things ourselves?  Sometimes it’s easier to just take care of our “life’s stuff” than to entrust all of our stuff to another.  It’s hard to be the one who carries the weight of life’s demands isn’t it?  As a mother I knew that raising the children, cleaning the house, cooking etc., was my responsibility and I gladly did it.  But the weight of responsibility on many days was more than I could stand.  Raising two girls to be godly women in a godless world seemed impossible and I was engulfed with fear at the thought of a different outcome for their lives.  To be quite honest, most days I was scared to death at the thought of having two precious souls entrusted to my care to raise and nurture in the Lord.  Whose worthy or capable of such things?  Certainly I was not.

But this is when God’s grace steps in!  When we reach the line of our limitations, then grace straps on its running shoes, grabs the baton and takes off to run the rest of the race.  God loves it when we come face to face with our inabilities, because we are then in a position to allow Him to do the work through us.  This is when God gets the glory and we get to know God in a more intimate way as our faith cries out, “I am weak, but He is strong”!  God’s strength cannot be displayed in us unless we are made weak.  Give that some thought.  Let that sink deep into your understanding and tuck it away as a life lesson.

Every time we are faced with something larger than our abilities, God is given a platform.  Upon this platform He can become center stage and the spotlight shifts from the impossible to the One who makes all things possible.  When I believed this truth about God, I began to soar in faith when it came to raising my girls.  I saw every challenge as a stage for God, an opportunity for Him to shine.  It lifted a heavy weight from upon my weak and frail shoulders.  I can see my daughters now, grown and beautiful inside and out, loving God, serving God and know:  It was all Him!  His mercy and His goodness have followed this mother all the days of her life and I give Him the glory.  The battle was His and when the battle is His, then we cannot lose.

The battle is Yours, I can lay down my weapons.
