Call for the Coast Guard
“He caused the stormto be still, So that the waves of the sea were hushed.”
Jesus is greater than all our enemies. He is deeper than our hurt and stronger than any storm that swells around us. There is no need to tremble, run or hide, when the waters of life stir about us. Even when the waves of the storms seem sure to engulf us and destroy us utterly, we can know that the storm has no power over us. We have the One who speaks and by His word, at His command every storm, no matter how violently it may roar, is silenced. The hush of obedience is given to each of us in the heart of our storm. It’s not available after we’ve sailed through it and it has calmed itself, it comes to us right in the midst of it. But it’s the storm within that needs the calmness that His peace will bring. It’s not the storm itself that the Lord is interested in bringing to stillness, it’s the inner heart of our being.
His voice is mightier to speak over every scheme, every threat, offensive attack forged against us, and each and every battle that rises. He sweeps in with all that He is and in the power of His being He raises us up above every foe and struggle for peace. He will never leave us and never forsake us. He is our calm and a very present help in our troubled times. If we will but cry out to Him in the midst of our storm, we will find that He already is aboard our ship. He rests there beside us, waiting, hoping that we will cry the words that Heaven is armed and longing to respond to; Lord help me.
Are you in a storm today? Is your soul overtaken by grief, pain, panic, fear or confusion? Have you succumbed to the thought that you aren’t going to make it through? Do you believe that all is lost and there is no hope for deliverance? Is a rescue needed? Then call the coast guard of your life and when your voice rises above the waves of your storm, He will answer. He will not fail your soul. He comes not to the storm raging around you, precious daughter, He comes to the storm that matters most to Him, the one warring against your heart and mind. This is where the real storm is. He takes command of every emotion and pouring out the strength and comfort needed in your deepest place of being, He calms your storm.
