A Song for You, Lover of My Soul

“Then shall the trees of the woodsing out at the presence of the LORD, because he cometh to judge the earth.”

1 Chronicles 16:33 (KJV)

So captured by His presence, so enthralled at His glory, so hungry to see His face that a song rises above all that is earthly, all that is ordinary at the sight of Him who is extraordinary.  What would cause the trees to sing out?  Can trees sing?  They will.  The word “sing” in this verse means: to sing out as with a cry or shout of joy but not with an articulate noise.  It’s a cry that cannot be put into words.  It’s used to describe a mass or pole that is shaken by the wind.  It can be used to describe a cry of joy or a mournful outcry at what’s coming.  The presence of the Lord means the face of!  The deepest praise is not found in words but in the sound that the heart sings.   What song could do Him justice?  It’s the song of the heart that beats only for One, the One that fashioned it and has upheld it every day since its creation.  It’s the devoted heart that knows its maker and breaks forth in praise in the presence of the Holy One Himself because it knows it was created for this purpose.

When found face to face with the Lord the soul is summoned to sing, not in words, but a song birthed in the depths of the soul for its Redeemer approaches.  At the coming of the Lord, the soul will not be quiet.  If the trees cannot remain silent, how will the soul that is created in His image refrain from lifting out a shout,  “Here I am, I am Yours.”  There will come that day when He will come in all His glory to judge the earth.  I believe it will be a mournful cry for some because with Him He will bring His winnowing fork to separate those who belong to Him and those who belong to the world.  One will cry out in sorrow, another to joy and thanksgiving because the battle is over.

Which will your song be, beloved? What will be your soul’s anthem in the day of His visitation?  If He were to call you home today, which song would your heart break out into?  Would you be ready with a song of praise because you have brought Him glory with your life or would your heart shrink back from singing praise to a shameful cry of mourning?  I pray you will search your heart before the song giver Himself today and let Him write a new song of praise in your life beginning this hour.

Father, raise a song of praise unto thee from every beat of my heart.
