No Child Un-Seen

“Then she called the name of the LORD who spoke to her, “Thou art a God who sees…”

Genesis 16:13

Her face was aged, body worn, hands revealing years of hard work. Standing straight as an arrow, with the greatest of confidence she said; “My God knows the path I take.”  She was speaking not from mere head knowledge, but from life experience.  She had proven her God time and time again for He had been faithful to bring her through many a storm.  They had journeyed through some hard places and faced impossible passages hand in hand.  She was a woman of great faith, not in her abilities, not in people, not in her experiences, but in the living God who had never failed her.   His track record was perfect, He was trustworthy, and her heart belonged to Him.  She was absolutely secure in His love for her.  Although she recognized His authority she also embraced Him as her Father and her soul understood to the depths that she was His daughter.

Hagar discovered a life-changing truth in her brokenness there at the river that day.  God knew about her!  He was a God who was near, and nothing happened in the life of His children apart from His knowledge.  He not only knew of her situation, He cared about it because He loved her.  Hagar’s heart would never beat the same again for now she understood that her heart did not beat alone.  She was not a lone heart upon the earth to handle her struggles and disappointments by herself, but her heart was held in the hands of her Father.  He was with her and would be with her until the end, walking her through every valley, up every mountain, down every path, and if she slipped and fell upon the way, He would be there to pick her up.  He was the all-seeing One and His eye had been upon her every day of her life.  Hagar’s life changed at this moment forever.  Her river of sorrow turned into a river of hope.

When you approach God, beloved, how do you come to Him?  Do you come as His child or as one who is subservient?  Do you know that His eye is upon you always, not just because He is God and nothing is hidden from His view, but that you are His beloved child?    God is a God who sees all, and there is nothing in your life hidden from His view, nothing that He does not know about you, precious one.  You can run to Him knowing that He loves you because you are His child and He is your Father.    There is no child of God un-seen!   You, like Hagar, may be experiencing the rejection of others. You may be at your river of abandonment, not knowing where to go or who to turn to.  Maybe your future is unsure and you feel all alone this hour, like she did, or you too have been used by others only to be abandoned later.  Listen to Hagar’s words, beloved; “You are a God who sees,”  There is no place so dark that God cannot see you, precious daughter.  Let this truth empower you, comfort and strengthen you today.

I am fixed securely in your gaze.
