“Now I want you to know, brethren, that my circumstances have turned out for the greater progress of the gospel,”

Philippians 1:12

Everything that comes into our lives, whether by the hands of others, or as a result of our decisions, be them good or bad, have the potential to advance the Gospel when viewed from God’s perspective.  God’s design is such that when we fail or if we suffer at the hands of injustice, we CAN approach God with the request for a promotion; a promotion not for ourselves but for His Kingdom.  Wonderful are God’s works and my soul, beloved, knows them very well!  This child of God has failed many times and has suffered at the hands of others and at times they were utterly devastating.  But everytime I whined to God about them, praying that He would rise to save me His answer was always the same:  “I’ve already saved you, child, now I want you to save others”!

God is a pursuer of souls and everything He does, or allows to happen, can and will promote Jesus as Savior if we will surrender them into His hands as a rescue device.  Life is full of injustice, hurts and disappointments but they all come with opportunities to be used for good or for bad.  The good is what God seeks after in our lives, even if it comes through the bad.  Because what happens to us can be a powerful force God can use through us to show to the world that Jesus is Lord of all: the good and bad.  We must look at each and every situation with our God lenses.  Yes, there is such a thing!  God lenses view everything through the scope of His providence, which allows the viewer to lay all things upon the altar of His glory.

This was a secret that Paul had come to know through His journeys with God.  When He wrote these words, he wrote them from the inside of a Roman prison cell.  How could Paul write such words of confidence and hope in his darkest hour?  Because He wasn’t looking at his circumstances but rather he was looking through the lense of absolute trust and confidence that God was going to use the bad in his life to bring many to Christ.   Right now, Paul’s faith in this truth, though written almost two thousand years ago, is still furthering the Gospel, even through the hands of this unknown author’s life and prayerfully in your life as you read his words to the people in Philippi long ago.

God’s Words to us are still just as true today as they were in Paul’s time.  God can and will use every situation to promote His Son so the lost can be saved.  God chooses to pursue souls, precious one, through your life and mine using the good and the bad.  All things have a purpose under Heaven and that is to illumine the universe with the Light of the Gospel, Jesus Christ.

Use today to exalt Jesus as Lord.
